Development Overview
Bluff Street Development proposes a 100 unit apartment building on Main Street near the Mississippi River and the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis. The city required a Travel Demand Management Plan (TDM) for the proposed development.
Project Scope
Spack Consulting prepared the TDM for the proposed apartment building. Morning and evening peak hour operations were analyzed at one intersection. The proposed parking was also analyzed along with the nearby bicycle trail and sidewalk system. It was determined no improvements would be needed to accommodate the traffic generated by the apartment building and the proposed number of parking stalls was adequate. Sidewalk improvements as well as outdoor bike racks were recommended to encourage walking and biking over using vehicles.
Accomplishments
Spack Consulting worked with city staff to develop a TDM they could support. The project is awaiting city approvals, but is anticipated to be built in 2009.
