Holy Family Academy

St. Louis Park, MN
Project Type: School

Development Overview

Holy Family Academy is a parochial grade school in St. Louis Park with an enrollment of about 250 students. Approximately five students ride on school district provided school buses, ten students walk, and the remainder use carpools. The student body crosses Lake Street every morning to attend Mass at Holy Family Church. Spack Consulting performed a traffic assessment for the grade school.

Project Scope

A new procedure was developed for the carpool system. The goal was to have no cars moving within the parking lot while students were entering or exiting vehicles. The new procedure was implemented for the 2007/2008 school year. Safety improvements were also recommended for the daily crossings to the church. This included working with Metro Transit to adjust bus pick up times on Lake Street so they do not coincide with students crossing the street.
