Walmart
Bloomington, MN
Project Type: Commercial / Retail
Development Overview
Walmart proposed to convert their 118,000 square foot store on American Boulevard in Bloomington to a Supercenter store. This is the sixth traffic impact study Mr. Spack has prepared for Walmart stores in Minnesota.
Project Scope
Spack Consulting prepared a traffic impact study for the redevelopment to document the traffic impacts of converting the store to a larger, Supercenter format. Five intersections were analyzed in the weekday evening peak hour and the Saturday midday peak hour. A detailed micro-simulation model was prepared to ensure the new parking lot layout would not have excessive back-ups during the peak periods.
Accomplishments
The traffic impact study was part of Walmart's submittal package to the city. The city approved the renovation plan in 2008 and the Supercenter is anticipated to be fully operational by 2010.
